Mr Symcox gave a brief account of the pros and cons of the property market on the South Coast and said one of the biggest obstacles which needed to be addressed was the slow business culture.

“Unfortunately, there is sometimes a disparity between the service offerings of the South Coast and Gauteng. This area offers great value, but the biggest obstacle is us,” he said.

Mr Symcox added the take-home message for business owners was to match their goods and services to customers’ expectations.

The brainchild of Petro du Plooy, the regular business breakfasts provide the ideal platform for business owners to network and help the South Coast grow as a community.

“The concept of a networking breakfast started three years ago as a way of getting the parents of pupils at both Suid-Natal schools who were in business together to form mutually beneficial relationships,” she said.

“Since then our numbers have grown substantially and we now include all business professionals on the South Coast.”
