Soccer tournament to stop theft

These matches will promote community involvement, and the commitment to ongoing rural safety initiatives and policing.

A wonderful initiative has been developed between Saps, the community, Brightley Farmers and the local Induna’s in Murchison as a way of addressing the problem of sugarcane and macadamia nut tree theft, damage to fencing as well as property theft in the area.

Sector commander for the Murchison area, Captain Qondisi Mjali of Saps Port Shepstone, implemented the initiative by involving local farmers, and it looks set to yield positive results.

The outcome from these meetings is a soccer tournament scheduled be held at the Maveshe Sports Grounds on Saturday, February 1, with a final match on February 9.

These matches will promote community involvement, and the commitment to ongoing rural safety initiatives and policing.

Brightley farmers, Mark and Gary Dunstone, generously donated soccer kits to the community in a gesture of goodwill.
