Baby dies in fire near Umkomaas

A FIRE at an informal dwelling in Feligisee near Umkomaas claimed the life of a nine-month-old baby last Sunday.

Paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene.

“Firefighters from eThekwini fire search and rescue extinguished the blaze. Only after the fire was doused was it discovered that a little girl had died,” said KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services spokesman, Robert Mckenzie.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by authorities.
