Sheppie Snippets: Temples celebrate Maha Shivarathri

Devotees are invited to join in for this auspicious event.

The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Alayam warmly invites you and your family to its annual Maha Shivarathri prayer which is known to Hindus as the (great night of Lord Shiva) from this Friday, February 21 at 6pm to 6am on Saturday, February 22.

The evening will begin with a hawan at 6pm followed by spiritual bhajans. Supper and refreshments will be served during the night.

Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society will observe Maha Shivarathri this Friday, February 21 from 6pm to 6am. The officiating priest is Pundit Misra. Supper and refreshments will be served during the night. Devotees will chant “Aum Nama Shivaya” throughout the night. Various bhajan groups will perform. Port Shepstone and District Tamil Association observes Maha Shivarathri this Friday, February 21 at 6pm to 6am on Saturday, February 22. All are welcome.

Lingum prayers, kirtans and bhajans will be performed throughout the night.

Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir celebrates Maha Shivarathi at its premises in Port Shepstone this Friday, February 21 from 6pm to 6am.

The Maha Vishnu Temple is observing Maha Shivarathri this Friday, February 21 from 6pm to Saturday, February 22 at 6am. Devotees are invited to

A hole sponsorship of R400 or more or two identical prizes will be gratefully appreciated. All sponsors can set up banners or flags around the golf course for the day.

All players are welcome to participate. Great prizes to be won including R10 000 for a hole-in-one on the easy 14th hole.

A reunion is being planned for the Class of ’78 of Port Shepstone Indian High School (Port Shepstone Secondary School) in Albersville on June 6 2020.
