Hospice sister says farewell

SISTER ‘NC’ Mbatha has retired from Khanya Hospice.

Previously employed at GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh, she joined the hospice team on her retirement.

Several years down the line, she again tried her hand at retirement but hospice called her back to help out.

She returned for a couple of months, and then retired… again.

“She was still too young to sit at home and she worked so well we had to call her back,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

This cycle continued over the years, but this time, she’s adamant it’s the last and she is finally heading off to enjoy a well-earned rest after many years of hard work.

The staff bade her farewell with tea and cake last week.

“We wish her all the best for the future – a pleasant retirement with good health,” added Neil.

“We thank her for always being there for Khanya Hospice and its patients.”
