A GROUP of dog trainers from the South Coast, together with their four-legged friends, have made their mark in the provincial league over the past year.
Bernadette Briglin of Bazley and her Chinese crested, Layla, were placed first in the novice small dog contact and non-contact agility; Heather Moorcroft of Pumula and her English cocker spaniel, Nina, were placed first in the medium intermediate dog non-contact agility; Bernice Smit of Pennington and her Sheltie, Ty, were awarded first place in all three disciplines in the advanced level and last but not least, Michelle Howard of Bazley and her Chinese crested, Bobbit, were placed first in contact and non-contact advanced agility.

Michelle also took first place with her other Chinese crested, Sebastian, in advanced dog jumping for small dogs.
Bobbit is well-known in the Bazley community and was part of the South African agility team which competed in the 2019 FCI Agility World Championships in Finland last September.
He recently won the overall Top Agility Dog in KZN title for the second year running, as well as the KZN leg of the national dog jumping league.

The icing on the cake for trainer Michelle was when Bobbit and Sebastian were ranked fourth and fifth in the Animal Talk Top 100 agility rankings for small dogs.
Bernice’s dog, Ty, also earned a spot in the Top 10 for medium dogs.

On a separate note, five of the top 10 small dogs come from KZN.
“So for a little training group of ladies keeping fit and having fun, we had a fabulous year last year and are very proud of all our accomplishments,” said Michelle.
