Tweni Talk: Residents band together

It was a joint effort that yielded some great results.

A huge thank you goes out to those Tweni residents who stood up and did temporary repairs to the potholes in the vicinity of their homes.

Last Friday, Alan Clark and the Bendigo Electrical team carried out repairs on the Old St Faiths Road, and on Sunday, Chris Polinski and Neil Thomas made a valiant start on the Mdoni Road and have promised to continue next weekend.

Kevin and Quentin Oroschin and Xolani Ngcobo of Car Plates and Signs tackled Ibis Road and will also continue next week.

Thanks to Alex Skene, Liz Willey, Jan Meyer and the Umtentweni Conservancy team for their continued clean-up, cutbacks and litter pickups at the overgrown road intersections. If you want to become a volunteer or make a financial donation, contact Liz Willey at 082 3771423.

Southport Bowling Club will be holding a fun day of bowls for bowlers and non-bowlers alike, on Saturday, March 28. Green fees for those wanting to play will be R20.

Josie Stonebridge who turned 96 joined Kelly Burger (right) and the women of the the ‘Collectables’ for lunch in Umtentweni to celebrate her birthday recently.

Boerie rolls will be on sale. All are welcome to attend.

Birthday wishes this week go to Darren Raath (10th), Lesley Botha (11th), Ruth Prinsloo (13th), Ally Vernes and Karen Da Rosa (14th), Doug Maritz (16th) and Clayton Curnow (17th).
