Department of Health announces revised hospital hours amid Covid-19 pandemic

As of Monday, March 23, visiting hours at all Department of Health hospitals will be limited to one hour per day.

The Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal has announced changes in hospital visiting hours.

The MEC for Health, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu said in a statement yesterday (Monday) that as the country deals with the global pandemic  (Coronavirus- Covid19) hospital visiting hours throughout the province will be amended until further notice.

“With the immune system of some in-hospital patients already compromised due to their ailments, the department has a responsibility to maintain infection prevention and control standards as well as minimise their exposure
to people who could be carrying the virus unknowingly,” said the MEC.

As of Monday, March 23, visiting hours at all department of health hospitals will be limited to one hour,  to be determined by hospital management, or from 1pm to 2pm.

Visitors will be limited to two per patient and no international visitors will be allowed access to facilities.
