Face masks: Business chamber embarks on campaign to contain Covid-19
The Chamber hopes the masks will be most effective and provide a great contribution in the fight against the virus.
The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its partners organisations has embarked on a campaign to make affordable face masks available to the business community.
“I trust that our President’s latest speech has invoked a strong commitment in you to supply your staff with masks,” said Ivan Naidoo, interim president.

“The design of the masks is still being finalised but you can be assured that it will be effective and a great contribution in the fight against Covid-19,” he said.
HERE’S THE STATEMENT RELEASED BY THE CHAMBER:
Long after the lockdown is ended, the Covid-19 virus will still be around.
In fact, experts say that a proper vaccine could take up to 18 months before it is ready for the public.
To date, South Africa has an excellent record of minimising the effects of the virus.
As part of our ongoing effort to contain this pandemic, the SC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Margate Business Association and the Port Shepstone Business Forum have embarked on a campaign to encourage all businesses, especially those that interface with the public, to use face masks.
We have local small businesses who will be able to make up the well-designed, double-layered washable and reusable masks for R8 each.
We are asking you to join this campaign by ordering masks for use by your employees.
We trust that you will set an internal standard that will make the use of masks by your staff compulsory, especially where they are working in groups or interface with the public.
We are also looking to make masks for the greater public, especially those that are coming to engage directly with the business community.
We are trusting that the support from the business community will allow us to issue this to the public at no cost.
Should you wish to order masks for your staff and/or to make a monetary contribution towards this campaign, you may make that deposit into the account of the South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
