Margate’s Rebecca is happy to be home…at last!

"Happy doesn't even begin to express how I feel!"

Rebecca Nagel (24) of Margate, who thanks to the Covid-19 lockdown had no option but to wait it out in a London hotel until flights resumed from Heathrow airport, is back finally home.

Rebecca left America on March 25 and only made it home on April 27. She was in Houston, Texas, visiting her sister Robyn Augustin, when the coronavirus outbreak started. Rebecca, who has been confined to a wheelchair since a car accident five years ago, was in quarantine in a hotel in Cape Town for two weeks.

She traveled back from Cape Town to Margate with Ryan Upfold, also from the South Coast. They hired a vehicle and drove a solid 17 hours to get home, as bed and breakfast options were also limited due to lockdown.
“It’s been month since I left the USA to come home – happy doesn’t even begin to express how I feel,” she said.

Her mom Sue feels exactly the same way!
