Calling all aspiring performers to enter national online lockdown competition
It is open to all performers across all styles of dancing, singing and acting with prizes valued at R100,000 to be won.
Project Performer is proud to present a National Online Lockdown Competition with a portion of the proceeds going to The Theatre Benevolent Fund.
“This is bigger than just a competition – this is about rallying together a number of industry professionals and amateurs, to stand as one big voice, and show our country and world that the entertainment and performing arts industries do matter during this time, and we will rise and conquer no matter what,” explains Shylo Pereira, Project Performer Director.

The Project Performer National Online Lockdown Competition is open to all aspiring performers across all styles of dancing, singing and acting. Entries are open until July 17 2020 with prizes valued at R100 000 up for grabs.
“We are proud to be associated with 45 national and international industry professional judges, who will judge the final round, including giving feedback and choosing the winners,” says Shylo.
Just some of the many incredible judges on board include: Maps Maponyane, Steven Stead, Samantha Peo, Jono Johanssen, Lelo Ramasimong and Bernard Kruger.
Categories
Singing: Musical Theatre/Broadway; Pop/Contemporary
Acting: Monologue/Duologue of any style; TV Commercial (max. 2 mins)
Dance: Dance style of any style
Choreography (your own)
Instrumental: Classical; Contemporary
How to enter

- In your video entry make sure to clearly state your full name, age, province and school (if applicable)
- Your video needs to be a maximum performance time of 2.5 minutes, except the TV Commercial Category. Note: this does not include your introduction.

Prizes
Winners of the singing, acting, dancing and instrumental sections:
R2 000 cash each plus 25% scholarship to the Project Performer 2021 Programme (which includes an artist development weekend away, coaching, a portfolio photo shoot and a showcase weekend) valued at R4 750.
Total prize money R6 750
The overall winner of the competition:
R3 000 cash plus a 50% scholarship to the Project Performer 2021 Programme (which includes an artist development weekend away, coaching, a portfolio photo shoot and a showcase weekend) valued at R9 500.
Total prize money R13 500
Other prizes include master class sessions with top coaches in film, theatre, singing and dancing. Total prizes up for grabs valued at R100 000.
