Paddle out to honour memory of surfer Llewellyn

Llewellyn was formerly from Scottburgh and surfed for the Ugu Surfriders team at SA Champs last year.

There will be a ‘paddle out’ soon for young surfer Llewellyn Engelbrecht who died in tragic circumstances in Coffee Bay in May this year.

It will be open for all surfers around the country (and even further afield) and will take place this Saturday, July 18 at 8.30am for 9am.

Llewellyn was formerly from Scottburgh and surfed for the Ugu Surfriders team at SA Champs last year.

In view of the fact that it’s unlikely there will be competitions this year where surfers can get together, the Engelbrecht family has felt the need to do a paddle out in lieu of a funeral and to enable the family to have some closure.

The local paddle out will take place at Southbroom beach, organised by Gill Spittal.

There will also be paddle outs in Scottburgh, Coffee Bay in the Transkei and Cape Town. Please bring a flower.

Should the conditions be unfavourable, it will be postponed.
