South Africa has moved to alert level 1 lockdown as the Covid-19 infection rate has declined over a number of weeks.
However, the battle against the disease is by no means over.
At the time of writing, in the Ugu District, 4 872 confirmed cases had been recorded and 108 people had died from the disease.

The recovery rate stood at 4 074.
Also at the time of writing, nationally the cumulative number of detected Covid-19 cases was 663 282 and the death toll was over 16 000.
The recovery rate stood at 89.4 percent, after 592 904 patients recuperated.
Some of the rules for alert level 1 lockdown are:
Social, religious and other gatherings are permitted, with the following conditions:
* The number of people in any venue must not exceed 50 percent of its normal capacity.
* A maximum limit of 250 people applies to indoor gatherings.
* A maximum limit of 500 people applies to outdoor gatherings.
* A maximum of 100 people may gather at funerals. Night vigils are not allowed.
* Masks must be worn at all times and social distancing must be maintained at these gatherings.
Movement of persons:
* Every person is confined to his or her home from midnight until 4am daily unless granted permission, a permit or attending to a security or medical emergency.
Wearing of masks:
* A person must wear a mask in public except when undertaking vigorous exercise.
* A person may not be allowed to be in a public place, use any form of public transport, or enter a public building, place or premises if that person is not wearing a face mask.
Sale and dispensing of liquor:
* The sale of alcohol by a licensed premises for off-site consumption is permitted from 9am to 5pm, from Mondays to Fridays, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Alcohol will be permitted for on-site consumption in licensed establishments with strict adherence to the curfew.
Travel:
Borders will be open for international travel for from October 1 subject to the following conditions:
* Only King Shaka International, OR Tambo International and Cape Town International will be open for international flights.
* Travel may be restricted to and from certain countries that are deemed high risk.
* A limited number of borders will remain open at South Africa’s land borders.
