Heritage Day call to stop GBV
Secretary of Gamalakhe Ward 27 Committee Nhlakanipho Mthwane urged victims of GBV not to be silent and to report any sort of abuse.
A Heritage Day concert held at the KwaXaba Community Hall in Gamalakhe last Saturday encouraged everyone to stand together to stop gender-based violence (GBV).
The day involved a host of talented artists and guest speakers.
Secretary of Gamalakhe Ward 27 Committee Nhlakanipho Mthwane urged victims of GBV not to be silent and to report any sort of abuse.
He also warned youth to be careful when communicating on social media not to chat to or agree to meet with strangers, as human trafficking was another crime increasing at an alarming rate in South Africa.
He asked everyone to remember all uMthwalume murder victims, and added that the ward must unite and lead the campaign against GBV.
“GBV is a very serious pandemic which needs to be dealt with. By loving the person next to you will eliminate the aggression that is destroying humanity,” he said.
