Mthwalume social media star gunned down

His friends and colleagues said they were deeply shocked, describing him as a humble man with a promising future.

Calls have been made for the immediate arrest of social media personality and business man Mluleki Wiseman Mbewana’s ‘killer’.

Mbewana who will be laid to rest at his Mthwalume home this Saturday, October 3, was gunned down on Wednesday last week following an argument with another man in Durban.

The 32-year-old, popularly known as ‘King Drip’ was also a project management unit staffer at King Cetshwayo Municipality.

The ANC Youth League said in a statement, it was disturbed by the lack of action by law enforcement agencies for failing to arrest the ‘killer’ who committed the act in front of many people and is reportedly also captured on camera.

According to the police, the two men became embroiled in an argument while leaving a lounge in Springfield.

However, the owner of the lounge said the establishment had closed long before the shooting occurred.

“The incident happened in the shopping centre’s parking lot,” the lounge owner said.

Police spokesman Thembeka Mbhele said Mbewana was rushed to hospital after the shooting, and added that a murder case had been opened at Sydenham police station.

His friends and colleagues said they were deeply shocked, describing him as a humble man with a promising future.

“We were robbed of a friend, someone we looked up to and someone who was always there when you needed him,” said a friend.

Artist, Junior de Rocka took to social media to express his grief and outrage.

“He will forever be missed. He always spoke the truth and we need justice for what happened to him.”

The ANCYL also sent their deepest condolences to the family of Mluleki Mbewana and his friends for this tragic loss.

“We once again call for justice to be served on the killer of Mluleki Mbewana,” said Mandla Shange, Provincial ANCYL Spokesperson.
