Life sentence for Jason Winrow’s killer
Judge Thembekile Malusi also sentenced Ntlangani to 15 years' imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, five years for unlawful possession of a firearm, three years for stock theft and two years for unlawful possession of ammunition.
The family of murdered former South Coaster Jason Harold Winrow (41) have finally received justice.
Odwa Jim Ntlangani (36) was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2017 murder by the East London High Court.
Judge Thembekile Malusi also sentenced Ntlangani to 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, five years for unlawful possession of a firearm, three years for stock theft and two years for unlawful possession of ammunition.
In 2016, some of Jason’s cattle were stolen from his farm in the Mooiplaas area near East London.
Ntlangani was arrested but escaped from custody.
A year later, Ntlangani returned, shooting Jason at his farm gate and stealing his bakkie, cellphone and wallet.
Jason grew up in Umtentweni and attended school on the South Coast. He was a well-known fisherman.

His sister Ally Winrow said it had been three long years without her brother.
“The court case was handled well. Jason is still sorely missed by his family and friends,” she added.
Jason’s parents, Dot and Peter Winrow still live in Tweni and his 15-year-old son, Bryon lives in Durban.
