A 31-year-old man suspected of murdering a man in Sezela was himself found dead on Tuesday last week.
According to police, the man fled the scene of the murder and evaded police for several days.
“The suspect became involved in a heated argument between his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend on the afternoon of October 3,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
“The suspect produced a firearm and shot a went off, which missed his ex-girlfriend,
“The woman’s boyfriend then intervened, giving her an opportunity to run to the neighbours for help.
“When she returned, she found the suspect had fled and her boyfriend had been shot,” said Captain Francis.
He died at the scene.
Police began a search for the suspect and on Tuesday last week, were alerted to a body discovered near Zamazoko Bottle Store in Sezela.
The body was identified as that of the murder suspect.
He had a single gunshot wound to his chest.
A pistol was also recovered.
