The employee was approached by a man armed with a knife, who demanded that he remove all the cash from the gambling machines.

An employee at a sports bar in Umzinto was assaulted during an armed robbery on Thursday, October 15.

The employee was approached by a man armed with a knife, who demanded that he remove all the cash from the gambling machines.

While he was doing so, a second man carrying a firearm entered the premises and instructed the employee to hand over the money from the tills as well.

“The robber struck the employee on the forehead with the firearm and demanded that the safe be opened too,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

Both men fled after gathering all the cash.

No shots were fired.

The case is being investigated by Detective Sergeant Jairus Perumal of the Umzinto Saps Detective Service.
