Snake removers surprised by latest ‘capture’ near Scottburgh

The team was told that a black mamba was slithering around on a solar panel of a two-story house.

Snake experts were in for a surprise when they were called out to remove a black mamba from a home near Scottburgh recently.

Martin Rodrigues, James Wittstock and Grant Webster from Crocworld Conservation Centre were informed that a deadly mamba had been spotted on the solar panel at a two-storey house.

After a careful inspection, the trio discovered that the ‘snake’ was not a mamba, or in fact a snake at all…it was an errant piece of insulation cable.

The team enjoyed a laugh, snapping a few light-hearted pics of the cable being ‘captured’.

Jokes aside, James cautioned that with the arrival of the warmer weather, more snakes, including venomous ones such as vine snakes, night adders, boomslangs and mambas are likely to put in an appearance.
