Serial rapist caught after 12 years on the run
He was sought for six counts of rape and four counts of robbery.
A serial rapist who has been on the run since 2008 was arrested in a joint police operation last week.
The man (38) was nabbed at Encuje in the Ehlobane area in Zululand in an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Ugu District Task Team assisted by Vryheid K9 Unit and Vryheid Saps.
“He was sought for six counts of rape and four counts of robbery committed at Mehlomnyama and in the Emanguzi areas,” said provincial police spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala.
The cases were investigated by the Port Shepstone and Jozini Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrest.
