One dead in taxi-related shooting in Margate

According to police, the motive for the attack is unknown, and investigations are continuing.

A taxi-related shooting at Masinenge in Margate left a 43-year-old man dead and three others wounded.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Margate police have opened a case of murder, three counts of attempted murder and five counts of malicious damage to property after the incident at the Masinenge informal settlement taxi rank on September 29.

“It is reported that the victims were seated in their taxis when unknown suspects opened fire, fatally wounding one man, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The other three victims sustained injuries. A taxi was burnt to ashes, and four were damaged due to the fire. The motive for the attack is unknown, and the murder victim has not been identified,” said Netshiunda
