Teenager’s body still missing at sea

Lifeguards rushed into the surf and were able to rescue the man but not his son.

A man and his son (15) were swimming at Scottburgh main beach recently (November 16) when a freak wave swept them into the open bay.

Lifeguards rushed into the surf and were able to rescue the man but not his son.

Five other bathers who also got into difficulty in the surf were brought ashore that morning.

Saps K9 Search and Rescue Port Shepstone conducted a search, but the teenager’s body wasn’t found and is still missing to date.

Police request beach goers and bathers to comply with the instructions of lifeguards.

“Only swim in designated areas and do not enter the water when you are under the influence of alcohol,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
