Community rallies to support young boy
For this reason, their friend Danielle Beekman organised the tournament to raise funds.
More than R50 000 was raised in a recent tennis fundraiser for Jackson Roberts (17 months), the son of Nicholas and Jade.
The little boy was born with certain neurological conditions which have affected his development, but consistent therapy will hopefully play a big part in helping him reach his age milestones.
However, the therapy is expensive.
For this reason, their friend Danielle Beekman organised the tournament to raise funds.
“We wanted to raise funds and bring awareness to help Jackson in his plight. You can read more about his condition,” said Danielle.
She said she was blown away by the support from the community.
“Words fails me. All I can say is thank you. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I am truly honoured to be a part of this community,” she said.
“The Roberts family and myself included are indescribably grateful and speechless at the support. To raise a whopping R50 000 for this precious child was incredible and I cannot wait to see him grow and benefit from all the kindness and grace people have shown him.”
The event was held at Southbroom Tennis Club, which gave the use of the courts for free.
It was an epic day of round robin mixed doubles and straight knockout sets (best to eight points).
Main sponsors were Comfort Cool and South Coast Granite, as well as various other local businesses.
