A 70-year-old man was shot dead on a farm residence inland of Rocky Bay, south of Scottburgh on Monday, December 21 at 3.30pm.

Police spokesman, Captain Adam Francis confirmed that Scottburgh SAPS is investigating a case of murder and house robbery at Ocean View, near Rocky Bay.

It is alleged by a 38-year-old woman that she was confronted by four armed men.

Cpt Francis said they demanded cash and firearms. She was taken to the upper level rooms by one of the men while the other three began searching the other rooms.

The woman then heard her boyfriend’s vehicle pull into the yard.

She then heard gunshots and jumped through a window and ran to the R102 to seek assistance, where she was taken to the Community Service Centre.

“The police found her 70-year boyfriend dead in the kitchen with gunshot injury. Two firearms, laptop and cellular phones were stolen,” said Cpt Francis.

Police ask that anyone with information that might be able to assist with the investigation should contact Detective Sergeant Weidon Govender at 039 9781900 or Crime Stop on 0860010111.
