Christmas: It is all about Jesus!
Through His teachings, we learn about the deity and humanity of Jesus.
Dr John MacArthur writes in his article on Facebook, “There is no greater question than who Jesus really is.”
“If you’re told you’re going to meet someone important whom your friends know, you naturally ask them, “Who is he? What’s he like? Where did he come from? What does he do? Is he the real deal? Does he live up to expectations?”
MacArthur continues that though Jesus is the most important man that ever lived and that all of us should know much about Him, most of us only have various impressions on Him.
No other subject is exposed to so much misinformation and deception, as the subject of who Jesus really is.
Through His teachings, we learn about the deity and humanity of Jesus.
It is a pity that most religions deny the deity of Jesus, His miracles, atonement and resurrection, and view the gospel of Jesus as a story or myth.
The reality is that all New Testament writers were prepared to die for the truth of what they wrote, and all of them did, except John (though he survived being thrown in boiling oil).
The Bible however, reveals Jesus not as a myth, but as history, through the account of eyewitnesses of what really happened.
“Our faith in Christ is only as good as the authentic reality of the Christ we believe in. It shouldn’t surprise us then, that Satan will attack us by promoting false and unworthy views of the person and work of Jesus.” (MacArthur).
The apostle Peter warns about false teachings about Jesus in 2 Peter 2:1-3.
John writes: “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognise the Spirit of God – every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.” (1 John 4:1-3 NIV).
MacArthur starts section one of his book ‘It’s All About Jesus’ with: “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God”.
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 16:13-17 NIV).
If you want to know more about Jesus, and the truth about Jesus, start with Jesus. You should have a close encounter of the Jesus kind.
Everyone who has a close encounter with Jesus will be changed, for better and forever. We need to have a personal relationship with Him.
