Gnomes make surprise appearance in Southbroom
Take the children gnome hunting all for a good cause.
Gnomes, first dreamed up in a book written by 16th century Swiss physician and keen alchemist Paracelsus, have made a magical appearance in Southbroom.
The Chivers sisters, Kate (7) and Anna (5) of Southbroom noticed a gnome on a pole and came up with the idea of creating a gnome trail.
So they got their mother Meagan to source the gnomes, which is not as easy as it sounds, and to help place them in strategic places around Southbroom.
They have had a few hiccups with theft and vandalism but they are still pushing forward.
They have made a list of clues which can be collected at Not Sheep Boutique shop in the village of Southbroom.
Owner Tessa Verwey explained that there is a donation box with money collected going to the Southbroom Conservancy.
It’s not a prerequisite to donate but it does help.
It’s a fantastic trail for the whole family to enjoy, especially during lockdown.
All one has to do is to take a photo of each gnome to show that you have found all of them along the trail.
Then WhatsApp the photograph to the number on the clue page.
Kate and Anna will do a lucky draw on February 28 and one lucky mother will receive a prize donated by Not Sheep Boutique.
If you have a gnome you would like to donate to the girls to set up another point along the trail drop it off at the boutique.
“Let’s all have a little fun with this initiative and keep the gnomes safe,” said Tessa.
