Woman found dead at home

He said that there were three kitchen knives next to the bath tub.

A woman, aged 70, was found dead in the bath at her home in Ramsgate last week Sunday (21st) evening at around 6pm.

Margate Saps attended the scene.

“Police responded and found the woman in a bath tub of water. She had a cut wound on her neck,” said spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane.

He said that there were three kitchen knives next to the bath tub.

Sgt Ncane said that a man, aged 78, was at the time arrested and charged for murder, and detained in Margate police custody. The man then appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, March 23.

He was released on bail and the case was postponed to tomorrow (April 1) for further investigation.

The man and woman’s names are known to the Herald but have not been released by Saps at this point. Attorneys Robin Petterson and Sue Ann Stander are acting for the accused and have no comment to make.
