Sassa announces social grant increases

The social grant increases have been effected on April 1, 2021.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) KwaZulu-Natal informs all social grant beneficiaries that the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu has with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni announced the increase in social grants.

The social grant increases have been effected on April 1, 2021.

The new maximum monthly amounts are as follows:

Older persons grant above 75 years: R1910

War veterans’ Grant: R1910

Older persons grant below 75 years: R1890

Disability grant: R1890

Care dependency grant: R1890

Foster child grant: R1050

Child support grant: R460

Grant-in-aid: R460

“Social grants have proven to be an effective mitigating factor against rising levels of poverty in our country. All beneficiaries are encouraged to continue to improve their lives by putting this money to good use,” said Themba Matlou, KZN Regional Executive Manager.

He also said, beneficiaries are reminded to be vigilant, keep their Sassa payment cards and pins safe and not to share them with anyone.
