It’s either all in his name, or the spirit of goodwill has infected a local man from KwaLatshoda.
Lucky Mthembu, manager at the Dolphin Pub & Grill in Glenmore Beach was on his way home last Friday (April 2), when he and a colleague stumbled upon a lost wallet, that belonged to a patron.
“My colleague Wandisile Bonga was on his bicycle and I thought the wallet belonged to him. He told me his wallet was in his pocket,” said Lucky.
“When we opened it, we found about R160. I put it in my bag because I figured that it belonged to one of our patrons, and that he might come back for it and if they don’t find it, we would probably find ourselves in trouble,” he added.
The wallet contained an ID, driver’s licence and a few company cards, and was collected by the owner’s partner the next day.
Lucky was rewarded with the money in the wallet.
This is not the first time he has returned lost items, last week he also returned several phones mislaid by customers.
“We are very blessed owners to have someone like him in our business. We met Lucky in 2009 and employed him as our gardener. We relocated from Johannesburg in 2012 and opened Dolphin Pub & Grill. He approached us for a position and worked his way to the top by 2014,” said Debbie Beatle, co-owner of the pub.
