Intruder forces pensioner to cook for him while he watches TV

An 88-year-old woman has been left traumatised after an unknown man entered her home and held her at gunpoint on Ocean View Drive in Sea Park on Good Friday.
Speaking to the Herald, the woman’s son, Roy Anderson (68) said she is very shaken after the incident.
He explained that the man had entered his mother’s home by taking a pole and forcing the burglar bars on the veranda open.
His mother had just finished making herself a cup of coffee and was sitting in the lounge when the man entered.
“He put a gun to her head, demanded money and then took her to each bedroom, and took everything – ransacked the whole house,” he said.
He then went to the fridge, and forced the pensioner at gunpoint to take out some boerewors and cook it for him.
The man then ate the boerewors in the lounge, wrapped in her thick blanket, while watching TV.
“He went to her bedroom and took her nice thick blanket off her bed and wrapped himself in it. He was obviously wet from the rain,” said Mr Anderson.
After two hours, from 7pm to about 9.20pm, he decided he had had enough and left.
“Every time my mother tried to move he lifted the gun up at her,” he added.
Mr Anderson said that before the intruder left the house he made her close all the curtains and turn off the lights.
Police spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that the man had taken a cellphone, jewellery, a blanket and cash before fleeing the scene.
She confirmed that a case of house robbery is being investigated by Southport SAPS.
