Housebreaker gets maximum sentence
Police took him into custody where he was charged for house robbery and housebreaking.
Saziso Shude (28) was recently convicted and sentenced to three years for house breaking and 18 years imprisonment for house robbery.
Although the sentence brings a sense of closure, the lives of a 33-year-old man and his family will be forever scarred by the violence and terror they experienced when Shude broke into their Deepvale home on August 30, 2019 while they were asleep.
Armed with a knife, he entered the home by forcing a window open and stabbed the man multiple times in the chest, arm and leg.
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said police arrived on scene with medical personnel who rushed the man to hospital for his near fatal injuries.
The panic button was activated and a security company quickly responded, arresting Shude as he was trying to flee the scene with cash, cellphones and other property.

Detective Sergeant Morné Jones, assigned to the case, strongly opposed bail and the accused remained in custody throughout his trial.
The impact victim statements, irrefutable evidence and convincing arguments by the prosecutor greatly assisted the court to mete out the maximum sentence for a house breaking case.
