Matric top achievers receive prizes

At the event, matriculants received prizes such as laptops, to assist them as they continue their tertiary education.

The matric class of 2020 were invited by Umdoni Municipality to a gift handing-over ceremony at Scottburgh Town Hall last week.

Umdoni mayor, councillor Sibongile Khathi, addressed the matrics and parents and stated that education is one of the government’s priorities towards the development of communities.

“We do these prize handovers annually to encourage and support our matriculants to progress in life,” said mayor Khathi.

She added that even through a pandemic bringing about anxiety and uncertainty, the class of 2020 still pulled through with determination and dedication.

“We applaud each matriculant for their achievements and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
