Boy recovering after wall collapses on him
Elihle Tsebeshe was injured when a mudslide hit his home and a wall fell on him.
The 10-year-old boy who was trapped under debris during a heavy storm that lashed the South Coast weeks ago, is recovering at his home in Bomela.
Elihle Tsebeshe was injured when a mudslide hit his home and a wall fell on him.
He had been asleep in his bed at the time of the incident, which occurred at around 06:30.

He hurt his back and was rushed to Gamalakhe Hospital last Tuesday. He has not been to school this week.
His mother, Thulisile Tsebeshe said her son is still very shaken by the incident.
“When he hears a loud noise or wind blowing he becomes restless and starts crying. My son is still traumatised.”

Mrs Tsebeshe lost her job during the lockdown in 2020 and her husband does casual jobs.
She said she has no idea how they will fix the damage or pay for the doctor’s bill because Elihle has a broken bone in his back and needs to go for a check up.
The back of their house was damaged and collapsed, parts of the house has cracks and they had to close the back with corrugated iron sheets borrowed from neighbours.

On the day of the incident, the Ugu District Municipality disaster team helped the family with blankets and mattresses.
“I would appreciate it if I could get help with a TLB to remove the mud in the house and the outside wall,” said Mrs Tsebeshe.
