The 12-track album is titled ‘Seng’khathele ondaba’ which means ‘I am tired of the gossipers’.

Masakandi artist Mthokozisi Goodman Mqadi has released his first album.

According to his manager, Lucky Mqadi the album is doing well. It took three months to produce and was recorded at a studio in Durban.

“The inspiration behind the songs is everyday experiences. For example, he saw people selling items on the side of the road while we were on our way to the studio and he created a ‘fireball’ track,” added Lucky.

Mthokozisi, who goes by the stage name, ‘Mahlalekhala’ started his musical journey while still very young.

“He often visited the music store I worked at and asked me to buy him a guitar. I had no idea why he wanted one because he couldn’t play,” said Lucky.

Nonetheless, Mthokozisi got the guitar and with the help of a professional learnt to play.

He has also been inspired by artist Thwasa Lekhansela who also features on the song ‘Udali ng’yamthanda’ on the album.

“It is a good feeling and a sense of achievement now that my album is out,” said Mthokozisi.

In future Mthokozisi would like to take his music overseas, as well as see it aired on television and played on radio.
