Man who murdered girlfriend tracked down by cops

The investigation revealed that woman was assaulted with a blunt object, allegedly by her boyfriend who fled the area after the incident.

A multi-disciplinary operation was conducted recently at Mondlo, which led to the arrest of a suspected murderer.

The team was following up information about a suspect (49) who was wanted for the murder of Nonsindiso Mbhele (34) of Mabheleni. The murder was committed in the Msinsini area.

Police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala said the lifeless body of Mbhele was found with open wounds to the head.

A case of murder was opened at Msinsini Saps.

The investigation revealed that Mbhele was assaulted with a blunt object, allegedly by her boyfriend who fled the area after the incident.

He was arrested at his tuck shop at Madresini in Mondlo.

He was found in possession of his licensed firearm which was also seized by police. The firearm will also be subjected to ballistic testing.    

The man has appeared in the Turton Magistrate’s Court in connection with the charges.
