Umkomaas man arrested for drug possession

The officers noticed that the vehicle had no registration plates and so gave chase.

A man, aged 20, has been arrested for being in possession of drugs and will appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court this week.
Umzinto K9 unit officers were patrolling the Umkomaas area when their attention was drawn to a young man driving recklessly on Bisset Street last Sunday.

The officers noticed that the vehicle had no registration plates and so gave chase.

The vehicle was intercepted and the Umkomaas Task Team and detectives assisted at the scene.

“Upon searching the vehicle, cash to the value of around R6 500 was found hidden underneath the spare tyre,” said Saps provincial spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

Further investigations were conducted and lead the team to the man’s house in V-Section, Umkomaas.

It was searched and 27 capsules of heroin were discovered.
