Tuning In: Scottburgh High past pupil joins Saps

If you can care by creating clothing and/or blankets, please contact Des Cuffe on 073 1796906 or Karen Davy on 076 2974457.

As I drive to and through Scottburgh I have become accustomed to seeing a half built bridge across the R102 near GJ Crookes Hospital, together with a half built hospital in Bram Fischer Street. These buildings have been incomplete for a long time. Are they ever going to be completed? And if so, will they ever be used? Especially the bridge? Anyone got any answers?

Past pupil of Scottburgh High School, Malusi Dlamini, is now a constable in the Saps and recently paid a visit to his ex school. He shared some exciting news with Strini Pillay, HOD of Grade 12, and Cliff Bamber, acting principal of the school. He matriculated in 2008, was a prefect, played first team rugby and first team soccer. Malusi announced that he is currently under the pre-selection phase to be in a specialised unit.

Talented ladies Val Botes made blankets and Margaret Usher created baby clothes for the Crisis Centre at GJ Crookes Hospital. If you can care by creating clothing and/or blankets, please contact Des Cuffe on 073 1796906 or Karen Davy on 076 2974457. The Crisis Centre has so many needs.

Calling all Members of Pennington Conservancy!
We are very excited to announce that we are in the planning stages of our very own open gardens day next year, called Fabulous Pennington Open Gardens. The date will be mid February next year. The conservancy is hoping to have three to four gardens on show, ideally a garden from each part of the town. Interested parties are asked to offer to open their gardens to the public on the day. Volunteers will also be needed to man gates, sell tickets and control parking.
