Parade celebrates culture, heritage

When out on the streets or attending public events, the organisation also aims to educate others about motorcycle riding culture.

Umzinto main street was filled with colour and culture last week Saturday (25th) when Umdoni residents and cultural groups joined mayor Sibongile Khathi and several of her fellow comrades in a parade as part of the municipality’s Heritage Day celebrations.

Diverse cultural groups performed in Umzinto on the day.

The parade participants walked proudly through the main street flaunting their beautiful and diverse traditional attire and paused every few minutes to perform a cultural dance or break out in song.

Amabhubesi MCC lead the way.

Leading the parade was the ever popular Amabhubesi MCC. This is an NGO made up of motorcycling enthusiasts who consider each other family, help one another and help their communities in whatever way they can.

When out on the streets or attending public events, the organisation also aims to educate others about motorcycle riding culture.

Amabhubesi created much vibe and atmosphere and gained a lot of attention during the parade while they cleared the path for mayor Khathi.

Bystanders enjoyed the parade, with several dropping whatever they were doing at the time to join the parade and celebrate African cultures.

After parading through the entire main street, the crowd made its way to the Umzinto sports field for more entertainment and spent the day enjoying a variety of cultural music and dance open to the public.
