Two seriously injured in Port Shepstone accident

Specialised steep slope rescue equipment was used to safely bring the severely injured patients up a 30m hillside.

When emergency services arrived on the scene at Batstone’s Drift on the Sugar Mill Road this afternoon, they found that a vehicle had lost control and left the road, plunging down an hill side.
 
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that two patients had sustained serious injuries.

Craig Botha from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said paramedics, together with SAPS Search and Rescue and Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue department, used specialised steep slope rescue equipment to safely bring the severely injured patients up a 30 metre hill side.
 
The patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.
