Mystery around decomposed body

Police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane, said the remains would be sent for forensic analysis to determine the gender and possible cause of death.

The decomposed body of an unknown person was found on a pathway on the R102 near the Mhlangamkhulu Bridge in Southport last Friday (October 8).

Saps Search and Rescue and other police members attended to the scene.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane, said the remains would be sent for forensic analysis to determine the gender and possible cause of death.

The matter came to light when Robbie Pypers, reaction manager for Lazer 911, received calls from members of the community, who had seen a human leg under the bridge, last Friday at about 08:00.

“Our response teams, Saps and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s Fire and Rescue department were dispatched. Upon arrival at the scene they searched for other body parts which were discovered under some rubbish,” he said.
