Ugu Disaster celebrates unsung heroes

Leadership and management would like to recognise the selfless contribution and dedication towards members.

To commemorate International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Ugu District Municipality Disaster Management Unit recently honoured the disaster management sector
heroes who often go beyond the call of duty to reduce loss of lives and provide much needed relief to Ugu communities.

According to Ugu DM General Manager Vela Mazibuko, the Ugu District took a decision to commemorate this day and further honour the unsung heroes who have dedicated themselves in serving their communities in their different lines of duty, including fire and rescue as well as crime prevention.

The district has been working closely with its family of municipalities, sector departments and different stakeholders to implement these risk reduction programmes which include creating awareness to communities.
