Cops seize AK47 and and ammunition in Ezinqoleni

A 24-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Police found an AK47 with eleven rounds of ammunition as well as a pellet gun during a joint police operation held at Ezinqoleni last Friday.

The team of police officers from various units were following up on information regarding suspects who were in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at KwaShoba area.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said the team went to an identified premises where a search was conducted, and it was during this, that police found an AK47 with eleven rounds of ammunition, as well as a pellet gun.

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

He is expected to appear before the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court.
