Art club has fun with liquid acrylic paints
The month will close with a social art appreciation session, at which artists will display their recent artworks (June 28).
Members of local art group Art by the Sea were spoiled with a fun presentation by fellow-artist Nelly Vuyk, when she shared her skills in working with diluted liquid paints – an artform also called acrylic pour. Members were amazed at the unexpected results of this medium, and were impressed with the colourful uniqueness of the paintings. Club members spent a fun day on Uvongo beach and surrounding area, painting the magnificent scenery ‘plein air’ on site.
For the balance of May and June some really exciting art sessions are on the cards: Painting on Pebbles/Rocks (May 17), Brush Techniques (May 24), Soft Pastels Painting Techniques for Beginners (June 7), Drawing Freely (June 14), Painting your Pet (June 21). The month will close with a social art appreciation session, at which artists will display their recent artworks (June 28). These sessions are open for artists at any skills level. Completed art works by Nelly can be viewed on Saturdays and Sundays at the Rotary Uvongo Flea Market – apart from the paintings there are also liquid art clocks, paper weights and jewellery items.
