Rotary hands out vocational excellence awards
Rotary recognised members of the community.
The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone held its vocational excellence and membership evening at Umdlalo Lodge (Zizi’s) in Umtentweni, last Thursday.
An informative evening was held were insight was shared on what Rotarians get up to locally and nationally. Former members, Dick Basday and Lulamile Bodla have come back to the club and were inducted by the present members. Both Mr Basday and Mr Bodla believe they have more to give to the South Coast community by joining Rotary.
President Shamin Maharaj said both men have been instrumental in Rotary, and the club looks forward to working with them and promoting local community work.
This year the club reinstated the Vocational Excellence Recognition Award. The club recognises people in the local community who have shown outstanding service in their personnel capacity or vocation.
A number of candidates are nominated and awardees are recognised at a special awards evening. Wolf Security and Maser Security received the vocational excellence award.
Vocational Director, Clive Thompson awarded the security companies on the basis that they have been instrumental roleplayers and great leaders in providing security to businesses and homes on the South Coast.
Guests were also invited and learned more about the work of the Rotarians and Rotary Anns.
