NPO dishes up hot meals in spirit of Mandela Day
Hats off to the organisations involved in providing more than 3000 meals.
Food for Life Africa in a joint venture with Better World Alliance and the Hibberdene Care Centre cooked up a storm and distributed 3 000 hot meals to residents of greater Hibberdene, in celebration of Nelson Mandela Day recently.
The vibe created around this day was eagerly awaited and all those who got behind this great initiative couldn’t wait to distribute hot and tasty vegetable breyani, freshly prepared by members of Food For Life Africa.
The idea was to get Hibberdene and the surrounding areas united and build a brighter and prosperous South Africa.
“Now more than ever we are seeing the country divided. For Nelson Mandela Day we decided to come together with various businesses together with Hibberdene Community Policing Forum, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Hibberdene Lions and South Port Community Policing Forum and united to work together with one main focus, feeding the needy. People have lost faith but on a day like Mandela Day we can give back some hope to the community,” said Ibrahim Shaik of Better World Alliance.
Food For Life Africa is a non-sectarian and non-discriminating organisation that respects all religions and cultural traditions and has volunteers from all religious and racial backgrounds.

The organisation currently distributes about 15 000 plates of food per day, to poverty stricken people in rural and urban communities in South Africa.
