Anti-snare group collects close to 150 snares

The South Coast Anti-Snaring Group is saving the coast’s wildlife – one snare at a time.
Craig Saunders who heads up the group said they had a good turn out of volunteers in the bush on February 25, and covered a few new areas.

Wire snares are wiping out the wildlife that is left on the South Coast.

During the recent patrol on a farm in Umzumbe, they managed to remove another 15 snares, making it a total of 143 snares from the last four patrols on farms in Umtentweni, Paddock and Umzumbe areas.

A death sentence to any wildlife.

“The more eyes in the bush the better our chances at recovering more snares. Thanks to all that gave up their time to assist us, each extra hand helps a lot,” he said.
