Update: Police hunt for men who killed 4 family members

One woman survived the shooting incident.

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a case of murder after four family members were brutally killed in KwaDweshula on Wednesday night, December 31.

KwaDweshula is about 40km north and inland of Port Shepstone and falls under the Mehlomnyama policing precinct.

A witness to the killings told police that four men kicked open the door of the rondavel in which she was staying with her fiancé.

She said three of the men were carrying firearms, with the fourth carrying a bush knife.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Magwaza, said that, according to her, the men demanded money.

The woman explained how, when they were told that there was no money, they fired shots at her 45-year-old fiancé, killing him.

“They then instructed her to show them other family members, which she did.

When they got to the main house, they shot and killed a woman (67) and her two daughters, aged in their 30s.

The men fled the scene, stealing two cellphones in the process.
