Advertorial: Uvongo pharmacy to play vital role in village

The new pharmacy officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 19.

A new and unique pharmacy has opened its doors in Uvongo.

In fact, this Uvongo Pharmacy at SPAR with a difference opened its doors late last year.

The new pharmacy on the block is situated on Marine Drive in Uvongo Beach and officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 19.

It was a wonderful grand opening of Uvongo Pharmacy at SPAR on Marine Drive in December last year. Pharmacy at SPAR is a group of independently owned and run pharmacies within the SPAR Guild Group of South Africa with more than 140 independently owned stores nationwide.

The owner of Uvongo Spar, Sohail Peerzada has embarked on a special business venture with his sister Wajedah Peerzada, a qualified pharmacist who has some 18 years of experience.

The pharmacy has a great variety of medical supplies.

Wajedah graduated from the University of Western Cape in 2005 and has worked at various pharmacy outlets over the years, to make her a well-experienced and knowledgeable pharmacist in her field.

She is a well-known pharmacist on the South Coast and has worked here for more than 10 years. She has a reputation for friendliness and offering sound clinical advice.

The Uvongo Pharmacy at SPAR is filled with a wide variety of medical supplies.

This career move is a dream come true for Wajedah, who has always wanted to open her own pharmacy. The new healthcare facility brings added convenience and value to the village of Uvongo, as both locals and visitors can do their grocery shopping and get their medicine in one trip.

Sohail said they will strive to play a pivotal role in the community as a pharmacy with a difference, and offer a service not usually found on the coast.

Be sure to take advantage (and save some rands) with their grand opening instore specials.
Another added bonus is that for the month of February, the Uvongo Pharmacy at SPAR, will offer a free health assessment at the clinic on Wednesdays (09:00 to 15:00) and Saturdays (08:00 to 13:00).

These free health assessments will include blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose checks.
The pharmacy’s in-house nurse, Sister Heidi du Toit will head-up the clinic on a Wednesday and Saturday and apart from having a health assessment – you can have your flu shots, vaccinations and immunisations, vitamin B shot, HIV/Aids test and lots more done at the clinic.

There are plans in the near future to stock wellness products – such as herbal, natural and sport enhancement products.
The store’s general operating hours are: Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:30 and on Saturday from 08:00 to 13:00.
Stop in at the new pharmacy, just up the street from Uvongo Spar and meet the team.
