Go further in a Suzuki Grand Vitara
It was good driving on both suburban roads and on the open road.
The 2026 Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.5 GL Auto is a well-priced compact SUV, which is powered by a 1.5L engine producing 77kW of power and 138Nm of torque.
According to my driving, I had good fuel efficiency of about 6L/100km.
However, I felt that Suzuki should have added a turbocharger to give it that extra boost, to both horsepower and torque. But on the other hand, I am still thinking of my younger days, but I’m sure the manufacturer understands that craving for some extra boost.
Other than that, the Grand Vitara is a beautiful family vehicle and is equipped with advanced features like ABS, EBD and ESP for safe driving on any road surface. The GL was good all-around on both suburban roads and on the open road.
My drive for the week was comfortable, with minimal effort to steer and excellent ride height.
The luggage capacity is 310 litres, but it expands to 1147 litres when the rear seats are folded.
Whether you are going on a long or short ride, four passengers can sit comfortably in the back. Safety comes first, with six airbags to protect occupants in case of a collision.
The GL is available in 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. I drove the automatic and as I said a turbo should have been added for that extra punch.
Designed with premium practicality in mind, it features LED headlamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera, cruise control, and rear aircon vents to ensure comfort for every passenger.
It is built to take you further confidently and I enjoyed every minute I spent in this vehicle. Suzuki offers a warranty and service which includes a 5-year/200 000km warranty and a 4-year/60 000 km service plan.
