Thompson Motors has opened a Tata Motors dealership in Shelly Beach. The automotive giant has rapidly expanded its dealership network and passenger vehicle line-up in South Africa in less than a year. Since its return, Tata now has about 45 dealerships across the country.

Clive Thompson, the owner of Thompson Motors, said he has been in the industry long enough to know that a new badge above the door means little unless customers receive proper support after they have bought the vehicle.

“We are genuinely excited to bring Tata’s new generation of passenger vehicles to the South Coast, but what matters most to us is that local motorists will be able to buy them from a trusted family business that will still be here to assist them tomorrow.”

Thompson added that Tata has already introduced an exciting range of modern, practical and well-equipped passenger vehicles to South Africa, with a strong focus on safety, technology and value. The latest addition to the range is the new Tata Osprey, a compact SUV that combines a turbocharged petrol engine with modern comfort, useful technology and a five-star safety rating.

“Our commitment is to provide Tata customers with the same honest advice, personal attention and uncompromising customer service and backup that Thompson Motors has built its name on over many decades. We don’t just want to sell someone a vehicle. We want to earn their trust and look after them throughout their ownership journey.”

The team at Tata Shelly Beach looks forward to welcoming the South Coast community to its dealership, introducing them to the Tata range and allowing them to experience the new Osprey when it arrives.

Sales executive Joyce Engelbrecht said the new Tata range has impressed her. “They are stylish, modern, and offer incredible value for money. I think once people see the quality for themselves and take a test drive, they’ll understand why we’re so excited.”

The Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which pushes out 125kW and 350Nm of torque. Its fuel economy averages about 6.6L/100km.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre engine and averages 5.3L/100km.

The Tata Curvv is powered by a 1.2L engine with a fuel economy of 5.7L/100km, and the Tata Tiago, powered by a 1.2L engine, offers 5.0L /100km.
